US Global icon, singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, and author Dolly Parton has died peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.
Known to millions around the world for her unmistakable voice, wit, and warmth, Parton leaves behind a seven-decade legacy that shaped music, film, literature, and philanthropy.
Parton is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Carl Thomas Dean (1942–2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923–2003), and her father Robert Lee Parton Sr. (1921–2000).
Described by fans as a “rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see,” Dolly Parton inspired generations not only through timeless hits and prolific songwriting, but through her kindness, humor, and commitment to giving back.
